“A Needed Life,” is the true story of the resilient and remarkable life of Kevin, a man institutionalized at 8 years old and returned to the community almost 14 years later. It shares the relationship that develops between him and the family that cares for him in their home for the rest of his life.
The author, Kevin’s friend and primary caregiver, tells of the challenges and opportunities accompanying their connection. “A Needed Life” winds the story of their years together and the relationship between them with the events and images of a five-day canoe trip through the forests of northern Wisconsin.
